3D Model CAD import to QBlade

Hello, our plan is to make a wind turbine blade with 3d modeling software instead, but how do we import it into QBlade? Is there a way to convert the model into .dat file with x and y coordinates defined?

Thank you and have a nice day.

Hello,

in QBlade the blade is model through spanwise distributed 2d airfoil shapes. You could export cross sectional shapes from your 3d blade design, normalize them to a chord length of unity (1) and then import those profiles into QBlade.

Typically, however, the design process begins with these 2D airfoils. The primary reason for this approach is the straightforward generation of lift and drag polars using 2D airfoils, which facilitates tailoring the blade design for specific performance objectives. This includes both aerodynamic and structural considerations.

BR,

David
