Definition of Moment coefficient

Could you please advise me the definition of moment coefficient?

I understand that’s the moment coefficient around 0.25 chord length.

Hi KNunoura,

the moment coefficient is a dimensionless measure defined as the moment acting at a reference point, typically at one quarter of the chord length (1/4c), resulting from the displacement of the point where the combined lift and drag forces are applied from this reference point.

David

Thank you for e-mail.

Could you please advise me the definition of Cm calculated from XFOIL?

Is Cm calculated at one quarter of the chord length?

Best regards,

K. Nunoura

Hi,

the Cm from XFoil is calculated at the quarter chord position.

David
