Rename Object Glitch

Hi there,

I’m facing an issue where having backed up a project file to an external hard drive, neither the original or the back up will open. When attempting to open the original, the QBlade window remains blank, loads for some time and then closes. When attempting to open the back up I am faced with the following error message:

‘The chosen name does already exist! In order to save this object, it needs a unique name. Please enter a new name:’

~field to enter new name~

‘Existing names:’ ~empty field~

Entering a new name results in the application closing and the error persisting. I’ve tried renaming the project file from its parent folder, unfortunately this didn’t change anything.

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this and ideally recover the file would be much appreciated.

Kind regards.

Hello,

it seems that the .qpr file might be corrupted. The messages you are getting are typical for that. This issue was occasionally encountered in the early versions of QBlade 2.0.

Regrettably, there isn’t an automated solution for recovering corrupted files. While manual recovery is possible, it does require considerable effort. In most cases, starting a new project will be more efficient.

To safeguard against future data loss, I recommend periodically saving your design or simulation progress in ASCII format. This approach ensures the data remains uncorrupted.

Sorry for the bad news…

BR,

David

Hi David,

That’s disappointing but very thankfully I still have access to an earlier version of the project so all is not lost.

Thanks very much for your time.

Kind regards,
