STL file export

Hello David, when I export 3d blade geometry from QBlade as an STL file into ANSYS SpaceClaim there is a message that appears to me “invalid facet line 1383234,1382497, and 13835673. does it indicate an issue with the geometry representation at the three lines of the imported facet-based model? or is there a problem with the features of the STL file that is exported?

Hi Wisam,

I checked the .stl functionality in MeshLab and couldnt find any issues reported from that tool. In the files I found that some normals are wrongfully defined as 0,0,0 (the hub and tip end faces, fixed for the next release) but at least in MeshLab thats not causing any issues.

BR,

David

Thanks for your fast response, So could you please find the pictures attached, and what about the mesh resolution? it is fine to do a simulation in Ansys fluent.

Hi Wisam,

I cannot really comment on whether the mesh resolution is sufficient or not for an Ansys simulation.

Regarding the error you are getting you could try to export a blade geometry in QBlade with a very coarse resolution and then try to identify the invalid lines visually? There is also the option to export the blade in a .txt format – that is a point cloud of 3d vertices for a user defined number of stations. I know that others have used this format successfully to generate a blade surface in a CAD tool such as Solid Works.

David

I am so grateful for your patience with my questions. Thank you, David. I will take your advice seriously
