Use of struts/tower
Quote from Shubham on 9. June 2023, 18:33Hello David,
I am simulating the effect of struts and tower using LLFVW. Do I need to switch on some parameter in QBlade for the strut trailing vortices to be visualized in the 3D view? I am able to see trailing and shed vortices for blades but nothing for struts. I have kept 0 pitch angle for struts and used symmetrical airfoil (maybe that’s why no vortices are shedding?)
For the effect of tower, I have switched on tower shadow with drag coefficient of tower as 0.5 which I think is a reasonable value. This effect is visible in the downstream blade loading, but again nothing visible in the flowfield. Can you please tell me how to visualize the flow with the effect of strut and tower?
I have attached two images plotted in MATLAB for normal force on Blade 1 [N/m]. The first image is without struts/tower and second image is with struts/tower. I hardly see any difference between the two. I have also attached the 3D geometries for both.
Thank you
Kind Regards
