Inconsistent First Simulation & Restart Simulation
Quote from Andhi.Kusnadi on 15. September 2025, 11:37Dear forum members,
I built a “fixed floater” MHK turbine and noticed inconsistent results when running the model for the first time time and when the model is restarted. I attach the simulation model, and the aerodynamic thrust graphs for reference.
Has anyone noticed such discrepancies before? Or is the simulation set-up flawed in some ways?
Regards,
Andhi

After further trial and error, I believe this might be a bug from v2.0.8.6 which I was using. The inconsistent Aerodynamic Thrust between first simulation and subsequent restart simulations doesn’t appear in v2.0.9.2.

you are working on a very interesting model!
I think the problem is that in 2.0.8.6 the prediction if a rotor is submerged wasnt consistent, so in some simulations the wrong density (of air) was applied.
As you observed it seem to be working now. This part of the code, detecting the interface between air and water was revised quite a bit in a previous update.
Best regards,
David
