Question regarding the design of a HAWT blade

Is it possible to design a forward wing on that software?

I’ve done a lot of research and couldn’t find out how to do that, so please let me know.

The attached image is the outline of the blade I want to make.

yes thats possible, check out the “Advanced Blade Design” tab in the blade designer.

I have another question.
I designed forward swept wind on Qblade using “Advanced Blade Design.”
But the Cp didn’t change.
Don’t you know why?

The Cp and TSR graphs did not change before and after bending.

Hi Bob,

CP graphs for steady state BEM simulations are evaluated based on the actual blade geometry – so pre-bending and sweep should have a small effect on the blade performance. However, as long as you dont change the projected radial position of the blade stations dramatically by pre-bending and sweep the effect is rather small.

TL;DR: Pre-bending and sweep should show a noticable effect in aeroelastic simulations, but for rigid and steady state BEM their effect is rather small…

I changed the projected radial position of the blade stations dramatically.

However, It didn’t affect the result.

Hi Bob,

you are still using the old QBlade release (v0.96b) as your file in in the .wpa format. This webpage is dedicated to the newest QBlade 2.0 releases and the forum is a support forum only for the new releases of QBlade. You find the newest release in the downloads section. This version should also resolve the issue with the effect of bend and sweep in BEM analysis…
