Hi,

if you want to export a 3-dimensional velocity field, QBlade stores this in the .vtr structured grid format, leveraging the regular nature of the 3D box, which is always aligned with the axes of the global coordinate system. However, cut planes are stored in the .vtu unstructured grid format, as their orientation (and hence the axes defining them) can be arbitrary.
